144-pin SO-DIMM
A SO-DIMM, or small outline dual in-line memory module, comprises a series of dynamic random access memory integrated circuits (DRAM chips). These modules are mounted on a printed circuit board and designed for use in personal computers, laptops, and some printers.
144-pin SO-DIMMs are the form factor used to provide SDRAM memory modules for notebook computers and certain printer models. 144-pin SO-DIMMs are currently available in EDO, 66MHz SDRAM, PC100 SDRAM, and PC133 SDRAM speeds.
SODIMMs are smaller and thinner than regular DIMMs, and the 144-pin SODIMM PCBs are always approximately 64mm (2.6) inches long, around 32mm (1.18 inches) high (although the heights can vary slightly), and a have a maximum total depth of 3.8mm (0.15 inches). They consist of a number of memory components (usually black) that are attached to a printed circuit board (usually green or blue).
The number of memory components on a 144-pin SODIMM's printed circuit board (PCB) can vary, but the PCB will always have 72 pins on the front and the back both, for a total of 144 pins. The gold pins on the bottom of the SODIMM provide the connection between the memory module and the memory socket.
